COMPUTEX
TAIPEI was held from June 3rd to June 7th jointly at the
TWTC Exhibition Hall 1, 3 and 4, and at the Nangang Exhibition
Hall in Taipei, the capital city of Taiwan.
COMPUTEX TAIPEI has become the largest computer exhibition
in Asia and the second largest in the world, next to CeBIT
in Germany. Each year, key global businesses come to this
event to launch their new products. Since a large portion
of the businesses in the world have research and deployment
centers or production facilities in Taiwan, this exhibition
attracts observers, analysts, and journalists of computer
and information industries from all over the world to discover
and report the latest technologies, developments, and trends.

19-member delegation of Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS)
participated at the 'Computex Taipei 2008' in Taiwan during
June 04 - 07, 2008. BCS Director Mr. Md. Moinul Islam as
the Team Leader and Secretary General Mr. Mohammad Zahirul
Islam as the Deputy Team Leader are leading the delegation.

Aside
participating at the main exhibition of 'Computex Taipei
2008', BCS delegates attended and participated at seminars
and discussion sessions at the levels of group, B2B &
one-2-one match making. They invited the Taiwanese industry
entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh for establishing ICT
production plants and their ICT business community to open
up & explore business opportunities on new technology
products here. BCS delegation also invited the Taiwanese
exhibitors to exhibit at the upcoming 'BCS International
Computer Show 2008' during November 17 - 21, 2008. They
arranged to distribute an early brochure published by BCS
on the show at the 'Computex Taipei 2008' premises.

World Congress on Information Technology
Kuala Lumpur was set to be the point of convergence for the
largest-ever gathering of global leaders and decision makers
on information and communications technology (ICT) during
the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT 2008).
Held
once every two years, WCIT is the premier global forum that
brings together leaders in business, government and academia
to impact economic and social development through the exchange
of policies and ideas on technology.

Delegation in World Congress on Information Technology 2008
A
delegation from Bangladesh to attended the World Congress
on Information Technology 2008 (WCIT 2008) to be held in Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia on May 18 - 22. The WCIT is the biennial
event organized by the World Information Technology and Services
Alliance (WITSA).
Led
by the President of Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) Mr. Mustafa
Jabbar, the delegation includes the Vice President of Asian-Oceanian
Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) & former President
of BCS Mr. Abdullah H. Kafi, former President of BCS Mr. Md.
Faizullah Khan, BCS Vice President Mr. A. Shafique Uddin Ahmed,
Secretary General Mr. Mohammad Zahirul Islam, Joint Secretary
General Mr. Kazi Ashraful Alam, Treasurer Mr. Md. Shahid-Ul-Munir,
Director Mr. Yousuf Ali Shamim, and BCS Member Mr. Ashrafuddowla.
The
members of BCS delegation attended and participated at various
sessions during the 5-day event of WCIT 2008 including the
WITSA General Assembly and other parallel events of PIKOM
Software & Service Showcase (PS3) organized by the Association
of the Computer and Multimedia Industry of Malaysia (PIKOM),
ASOCIO Plenary Meeting, Seminars and bilateral & group
discussions with the world business leaders and Techno-Experts
on ICT. BCS also singed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU)
with the Association of Thai ICT Industry (ATCI) at the ASOCIO
Plenary Meeting on May 22. The MOU contains the issues related
to identifying opportunities of business ventures, exchange
& sharing views and transferring resources for the development
of ICT in both the economies of Bangladesh and Thailand.
It
is worthwhile to mention here that Bangladesh Computer Samity
represents Bangladesh private sector on ICT in both the global
and regional forums of WITSA and ASOCIO as their Member for
more than a decade. The Samity has been playing vital role
in these two prestigious forums upon participating and organizing
events worldwide regularly on several occasions. As a part
of its continued endeavor, this time too, BCS is focusing
Bangladesh ICT taking the opportunity, while the WCIT 2008
is taking place in an emerging Asian economy of Malaysia.
