ICT Awareness Program in Barisal ::
Bangladesh
Computer Samity (BCS), with the financial support from ICT Business
Promotion Council (IBPC) and co-operation from BASIS & ISPAB,
started organizing the 'ICT Awareness Program' in Divisional Headquarters
of the country since 2005. At the first phase, four cities were
chosen to organize the program such as Sylhet, Chittagong, Dhaka
and Khulna. BCS started organizing the second phase of ICT Awareness
Program with financial assistance from the ICT Business Promotion
Council. The first program of this phase was organized in the middle
district town of Mymensingh. The second program of this phase was
organized in the Divitional Headquarter of Barisal at Ashinikumar
Town Hall for two days on February 09 - 10, 2008. Mr. Kazi Ashraful
Alam, Joint Secretary General of BCS was given the responsibility
to co-ordinate among the related stakeholders in Dhaka and Barisal
to organize the program successfully.

Locally
supported & coordinated by BCS members in Barisal, the program
was inaugurated by the Joint Secretary (Export) of Commerce Ministry
Mr. Mustafa Mohiuddin as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Md. Ghulam Hussain,
Co-ordinator of Business Promotion Council, chaired the inaugural
session on February 09, 2008. BCS President Mr. Mustafa Jabbar,
Vice President Mr. A. T. Shafique Uddin Ahmed, Joint Secretary General
Mr. Kazi Ashraful Alam, Treasurer Mr. Md. Shahid-Ul-Monir &
Director Mr. Yousuf Ali Shamim were present and spoke on the various
sessions of the 2-day program.
Representatives of six ICT companies
from Dhaka a presented techniques & technologies and applications
& services developed & provided by them at stipulated sessions
assigned on two days to the ICT users at various levels of the Barisal
city. The presenter companies were Ananda Computers, The Computers
Ltd., Global Brand (Pvt.) Ltd., Ipshita Computers Pvt. Ltd. Flora
Ltd. & Tri-gem Computers from Dhaka. On both the days, there
was jam-packed gathering and all the sessions were lively &
interactive among the presenters and the audience.
